School Cook
We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fine dining and food preparation, with a commitment to delivering exceptional meals that exceed our guests' expectations. As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in menu development, meal preparation, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality in our kitchen.
We are a premiere school located in Columbus, Ohio with a nationally accredited program for children. FACCES at Starting Point has a state of the art kitchen and we have a green house growing fruits and vegetables. If you love children and love to cook this role just may be for you. Work Schedule:
Monday-Thursday 2:30 pm-7:00 pm and Saturday 7:00 am-1:00 pm
Summer schedule: 10:00 am-6:00 pm and Saturday 7:00 am-1:00 pm
Responsibilities
Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient meal preparation and presentation.
Create and develop innovative menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and culinary trends.
Prepare high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
Train and mentor kitchen staff on food handling techniques, knife skills, and cooking methods.
Collaborate with the dietary department to accommodate special dietary needs of guests.
Assist in maintaining a positive team environment by fostering open communication and teamwork.
What we are looking for:
Strong knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations.
Proven experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
Excellent meal preparation skills with attention to detail in presentation.
Proficient knife skills for efficient food preparation.
Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff and help foster a positive work atmosphere.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
