Job Description: Education Director
General Management Responsibilities:
Enforce online discipline while maintaining a supportive and understanding approach appropriate for children and families.
Achieve academic goals through collaboration with online educators, parents, families, and the youth committee.
Integrate educational policies and guidelines from quality assurance bodies and government entities into the platform’s curriculum.
Perform all necessary tasks to accomplish the platform’s educational mission as requested by the Board/CEO/Department of Education.
Manage applications for grants, bursaries, and funding opportunities for the platform.
Maintain accurate family records, including attendance, demographics, grades, and other required data.
Meet with parents, students, and committee members—virtually or in person—to discuss needs, progress, and concerns with empathy and clarity.
Financial Responsibilities:
Support the platform’s annual budget, grants, and bursaries.
Propose budgets for supplies, materials, staff, and equipment.
Review and recommend requests for instructional materials and resources within the approved budget.
Marketing Responsibilities:
Ensure clear, consistent, and family-friendly communication with staff, students, and families.
Encourage staff participation in parent-teacher and community events, both virtual and in person.
Actively engage with the online and local community to build meaningful relationships.
Investigate comparable platforms and explore ways to enhance offerings.
Develop and manage promotional materials for the platform.
Technology Responsibilities:
Ensure that all online learning resources and platforms are fully functional, accessible, and user-friendly for families and students of all backgrounds.
Resource Management Responsibilities:
Fully utilize available online tools, materials, and youth support services.
Ensure compliance with relevant authorities and safety regulations for virtual environments, with a focus on child safety and well-being.
Education Management Responsibilities:
Establish curriculum guidelines in collaboration with administrators and the youth committee.
Develop and manage activities that demonstrate progress for families and students as alternatives to traditional exams.
Chair and manage internal committees to ensure academic goals are met.
Ensure that accreditation procedures and standards are followed.
Develop academic benchmarks for families and students.
Evaluate the effectiveness of online learning materials and resources.
Oversee the development of extracurricular activities within the online environment.
Set educational standards and goals for families and students.
Maintain up-to-date records, including progress tracking, retention statistics, and family development.
Event Planning and Engagement Responsibilities:
Plan and organize engaging, developmentally appropriate activities and events for families and students, always considering the emotional, social, and educational needs of children and their caregivers:
Prenatal: Workshops and support groups for expecting families.
Birth to Kindergarten: Activities supporting early childhood development and caregiver engagement.
Kindergarten to 6th Grade: Interactive learning events, webinars, and workshops for primary education.
6th Grade to 8th Grade: Programs focused on middle school development and academic growth.
8th Grade to High School Graduation: College preparation, career readiness, and senior-year programming.
Support and encourage family involvement through events, inclusive, community-building events meetings, and special interest groups.
Reporting and Planning:
Prepare and present reports, including board reports, progress demonstrations, and educational data.
Plan and conduct virtual or in-person faculty meetings.
